Today I asked the First Minister what the Scottish Government's response to accidental drug deaths involving antidepressants used without a prescription.
In the recent National Drug-Related Deaths Database (Scotland) Report published by ISD Scotland it was suggested that antidepressants are detected in nearly half of post-mortems involving accidental drug deaths, with the victim having no prescription in around 30% of the cases.
I asked the First Minister what the Government's response would be. This is a difficult and nuanced area but we must consider how illegal and prescription drugs are linked. That is why I went on to ask the First Minister when we can expect the 'refreshed' version of the Scottish Government's drugs strategy, Road to Recovery, which is now 10 years out of date.
