This week, Michelle Ballantyne MSP visited Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Co. in Erskine Veterans Village Estate.
Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Co. is a social enterprise supporting Armed Forces Veterans since the darkest days of WW1, when many service personnel returned from conflict needing lifelong care and support. Today, the Estate is a vibrant Veteran community providing accommodation and care for Veterans in a village environment.
It is a division of Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI)- a charity helping ex-Armed Forces personnel into employment. Established in 1919 to help soldiers returning from World War One, RBLI have a heritage as a military charity, with an expertise in supporting those Veterans who are wounded, injured and sick.
The manufacturing company employs veterans to make signs and panels.
The South Scotland MSP praised the social enterprise for how they help war veterans and highlighted the importance of the helping those who served in the armed forces.
Michelle Ballantyne MSP commented:
“It was great to visit Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Co. this week. A fantastic social enterprise helping veterans all over Scotland.
“My husband was in the army, as are two of my children. Coming from a military background I fully appreciate the importance that providing employment opportunities has for those in the Armed Forces community.
“This is definitely the kind of thing we want to encourage in South Scotland and I hope that we see more organisations like this.”
